About Us

Wilkinson Stonemasons are a traditional, independent stonemasons started by Chris Wilkinson to provide bespoke and intricate stonework.  Chris started his career aged 16, as the apprentice of Italian master craftsman Ermanno Zaffardi and he has won the coveted NAMM (National Association of Memorial Masons) Young Stonemason of the Year award. He is passionate about his craft and feels it’s important to continue to use these age old skills to provide customers with high quality craftsmanship. His skills include stone carving, banker masonry, intricate design work, shaping and polishing stone, hand cut lettering, engraving and sandblasting. Chris has also worked on bespoke commissioned pieces such as the International Year of the Cooperatives sculpture, The Sutton Rail Memorial, The Willenhall Lock Workers Memorial and most recently the plinth for The Sutton Owl for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Before setting up his own company, Chris was the master mason at Cooperative Memorials for 13 years and has also worked at Wombourne Memorials, A Walsh Memorials and R Piccioni Ltd.

Chris runs Wilkinson Stonemasons alongside his wife Nikki, and a small team of masons and stone fitters.
